North Bend Family Housing
North Bend City and Coos-Curry Housing Authorities
Project Overview
North Bend Family Housing is a large-scale affordable housing development designed to expand housing stability for families and individuals on Oregon’s South Coast. The project brings together affordable housing and permanent supportive housing in a single, thoughtfully planned community with access to on-site services.
As one of the region’s most significant housing investments, North Bend Family Housing demonstrates how coordinated planning and cross-sector partnerships can deliver housing at scale while addressing the broader needs of residents.
The Need
Coos and Curry Counties face a persistent shortage of affordable housing, particularly for families and individuals with low and extremely low incomes. Limited housing availability, rising costs, and constrained local resources have made it increasingly difficult for households to secure stable, long-term housing.
North Bend Family Housing responds directly to this gap by adding new, deeply affordable units while integrating services that support long-term housing stability.
Project Details
North Bend Family Housing includes approximately 176 total units, combining affordable family housing with permanent supportive housing units for individuals and households with higher service needs. The development is designed to promote stability, dignity, and community connection.
Key elements include modern, energy-efficient housing, shared community spaces, and on-site supportive services coordinated through trusted local partners.
Integrated Services
Housing stability is strengthened through access to on-site and coordinated services, including case management, behavioral health support, and connections to employment and education resources. These services are designed to meet residents where they are and support long-term success.
SPARC’s Role
SPARC supports North Bend Family Housing by aligning regional partners, strengthening coordination across housing and service systems, and advocating for resources that advance the project and the broader housing continuum. The project remains fully owned and operated by its sponsoring organization.
Status and Timeline
North Bend Family Housing is currently under development and progressing ahead of schedule. Construction milestones have been met through strong coordination among partners, funders, and local leadership.
Regional Impact
When complete, North Bend Family Housing will significantly expand affordable housing capacity on the South Coast, reduce pressure on emergency systems, and create pathways to long-term stability for families and individuals in the region.
